Region of Chalkidiki. Some history.
CommonNatural wealth of Chalkidiki is not inferior to the historical heritage of the region. Archaeologists have found evidence of human presence on the peninsula more than 700,000 years ago. In the period of antiquity, residents of Chalkida founded their colony in this area and this is where the area received its name. Chalkidiki is the birthplace of philosopher Aristotle who was the main teacher of Alexander the Great. In honour of the great queen Thessaloniki, who was a half-sister of the great general, was called the modern city of Thessaloniki. During hundreds of years, the region had witnessed invasions of the Persian army led by the legendary king Xerxes and the Roman colonization. Five-year residence permit for property owners
LegalOn 10 April 2013, Greece adopted a new law under which the owner of property worth €250,000 or more is entitled to obtain residence permit in Greece for a period of five years, with the right of renewal. The new Greek Immigration Code of 2014 also provides for such residence permit.
